Il devient commandant du croiseur HMS Cairo en 1936 et commandant du croiseur HMS Aurora en 1937, puis officier d&rsquo;\u00e9tat-major (Plans) au sein de l&rsquo;\u00e9tat-major du commandant en chef de la Home Fleet en 1939.<\/p>\n<p>Mansergh a \u00e9galement servi pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale en commandant le croiseur HMNZS Achilles \u00e0 partir de 1942, puis en commandant le croiseur HMNZS Leander \u00e0 partir de 1943 avant de devenir commodore au sein de l&rsquo;\u00e9tat-major de l&rsquo; Amiraut\u00e9. Le 13 juillet 1943, lors de la bataille du golfe de Kula, le HMNZS Leander (Capt. C.A.L. Mansergh, DSC, RN) est torpill\u00e9 par des navires de guerre japonais. Leander est gravement endommag\u00e9 avec une salle des machines, une chaufferie et un canon de 4 pouces d\u00e9truits. Apr\u00e8s avoir effectu\u00e9 des r\u00e9parations temporaires, Leander s&rsquo;est rendu \u00e0 Boston, aux \u00c9tats-Unis, pour une restauration majeure. Il devient ensuite commandant du porte-avions HMS Implacable en 1946, vice-contr\u00f4leur de la marine et directeur de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipement naval en 1948 et commandant du 2e escadron de croiseurs en 1950. Sa derni\u00e8re nomination est celle de Pr\u00e9sident du Royal Naval College de Greenwich en 1952 avant de prendre sa retraite en 1956. He became Commander of the cruiser HMS Cairo in 1936 and Commander of the cruiser HMS Aurora in 1937, then Staff Officer (Plans) on the staff of the Commander-in-Chief of the Home Fleet in 1939.<\/p>\n<p>Mansergh also served in the Second World War commanding the cruiser HMNZS Achilles from 1942 and then commanding the cruiser HMNZS Leander from 1943 before becoming a commodore on the Admiralty Staff. On July 13, 1943, during the Battle of Kula Gulf, HMNZS Leander (Capt. C.A.L. Mansergh, DSC, RN) was torpedoed by Japanese warships. Leander was badly damaged with an engine room, boiler room and 4-inch gun destroyed. After carrying out temporary repairs, Leander traveled to Boston, USA for a major restoration. He then became Commander of the aircraft carrier HMS Implacable in 1946, Vice Controller of the Navy and Director of Naval Equipment in 1948 and Commander of the 2nd Cruiser Squadron in 1950. His last appointment was that of President of the Royal Naval College of Greenwich in 1952 before retiring in 1956.
